EuroPython badges

For your information: we will ship the conferences badges (that will grant you access to the conference location and act as free publication transportation ticket) by postal mail before the conference to all attendees with an early bird ticket or a standard ticket. Attendees with on-desk tickets must pick up their tickets themselves at the conference desk. For this reason attendees with on-desk tickets can not use the public transportation for free without having picked up the conference badge. So in this case you need to buy a transportation ticket at the time of your arrival (2.30 € for a single ride within zones A+B).

If there is a problem with your postal address or if you don’t receive the badge for whatever reason then will contact the registration desk at the conference for a replacement. We will be happy to assist you.

Less than three weeks until EuroPython 2014!

Less than three weeks and we will meet you all at EuroPython 2014 in Berlin!

We are almost sold out and it will be the biggest Python event in Europe ever. In the initial press release of the organizer team we had been talking of up 1200 attendees - and now we are there! This is an increase by almost 40% over EuroPython 2013 in Florence. Today we heard that the @djangogirls initiative had more than 300 applications from women for the free Django Workshop for Women at EuroPython 2014 - unfortunately there is only space for 40 workshop attendees.

A very special thank you to the @djangogirls organizers for taking the initiative for bringing more women to EuroPython! We are thrilled having @djangogirls in Berlin!

Please make sure that you follow us for news update especially you may see more frequent updates as we get closer to the conference start. We will post major announcements on this blog (which is connected to the @europython Twitter account). Additional information might be posted on short notice through Twitter. So please add the RSS feed of this blog to your reading list or follow us directly on Twitter. In addition will make the EuroPython schedule and related information available on your mobile devices through Guidebook. This allows us to communicate and push schedule changes out  directly to you.

EuroPython 2014 sprints

EuroPython Sprint 2014 will be held at bcc Berlin Congress Center, Alexanderstr. 11, next to Alexanderplatz, on the 26th and 27th of July, 2014 as a way of bringing people interested in the programming language Python on a variety of levels and topics together in one place for two days in order to share, learn, network and brainstorm.

sprint is a get-together of people involved in a project to give a focused development on the project. Sprints are typically two to seven days long. Sprints have become popular events among some open source projects. For example, the PyPy project is mostly developed during regularly held sprints where most of the international developer team gathers.

This event is for developers, project managers and Python enthusiasts in the fields of education in schools and universities, business, including freelancers and employees as well as home and hobby users.

Please register early until 7th July and announce your sprint ideas.

EuroPython almost sold out - remaining tickets go on sale tomorrow 25/06/2014 12:00 UTC+2

Good news

EuroPython 2014 will be the largest EuroPython ever. We have almost reached the location capacity of 1200 attendees. This is almost a 50% increase in attendees compared to EuroPython 2013 in Florence. Thank you all!

Bad news

We will run out of tickets shortly and EuroPython 2014 will be sold out. A remaining batch of 90 tickets - split over the three categories student (250 €), standard (500 €) and business(750 €) - will go on sale

tomorrow Wednesday 25/06/2014 at 12:00 (UTC+2).

The so-called „on-desk“ tickets“ are regular tickets with the exception that they must be picked up at the conference registration desk in person compared to the standard tickets (sold until last Sunday) where we will ship the badges by postal mail before the conference. The “on-desk” tickets are only available to the “on-desk” rates on the ticket sale page.

Speakers/trainers without ticket so far will receive the difference between  on-desk rate and standard rate plus the 25% speaker discount as a refund.

So order your EuroPython tickets as early as tomorrow otherwise it might be too late for getting further tickets.

Register for EuroPython trainings until Friday 27/06/2014!

This is a gentle reminder that you must to register for the EuroPython trainings. Each training is limited to 70 seats. So if you intend to participate in a training then register as soon as possible. You register for a training by clicking on the “Attend this session” button in the detail view of a training. All trainings are of course free for EuroPython attendees but the seats are served on a first-come first serve basis. The deadline for the training registration is this Friday 27/06/2014 (23:59:59 UTC+2).
